Long time since i wrote anything sensible..not that i claim this one to be..

As i look back to the good old days of frequent temple visits, i recollect how sincerely, and rather a little madly , i , as a child and my parents, for their children, keep praying and asking for wishes to be granted.

What happens when we pray, and to whom do we pray, and if HE is the most powerful person, why do deaths,famines,tsunamis and earthquakes occur?

These may sound like amateurish questions for a philosopher & a die-hard theist..but since am neither, i just cant stop wondering..

Road Etiquettes!

It takes lots of guts to drive on the city roads these days..because, the traffic 'rules' are no more followed , and I'd rather say that they're forgotten! And about the Road etiquettes- they are but discussed by a few sane people and is a forgotten issue as well!

Whatever is happening to the people of today? Where are they heading to? Its a mad rush, high speed on the roads to reach their destiny (may it be on earth or is it somewhere else??- god forbid!) and not caring about anything at all. (leave alone caring for others, they don't even care for themselves! their very own precious lives!)

While rash driving is a frequent complaint on the drivers, its drunken driving that matters too and it has taken 7 lives already..(the Periera case is what am referring to) and the youth of today take immense pleasure in 'overtaking' the other vehicles with their fantastic, haut bikes , not aware, that in the process, they are risking their own lives and the lives of many other innocent people too.

About the civic sense of the people who walk on the road..its an awesome sight to find the couples so united on the roads- they show all their 'affection' in public..esp the newly weds! not to forget those aunties who walk with two children on either side, (and in some cases, those two children , will hold another coupla children as well! its a chain reaction!) right in the middle of the road, not aware of the nuisance they create to the drivers and the risk they face in doing so..

Now for the sweethearts of the roads- Auto drivers- esp the share-auto drivers- they make immense money by taking as many people as they could, that they don't' mind standing and driving their auto! coz its the number of people that matters to him, and not their lives!!

People, think!

Its high time that we get more civilized , abide by the rules , have manners while using the roads and save lives that matter more than anything else on this planet..

This is the reason as to why many of us are the way we are! We do most of the things in our life just because we could, which is why we don't think of others. I'd like to cite a couple of examples which would re-iterate my argument.
The ozone layer is fast depleting; the air pollution is on the rise; there's very little petrol left for our future generations to benefit. Yet, the effluent society that can afford to buy sedans for each member of the family, will consume maximum petrol, pollute the atmosphere and all because they could! Public modes of transport or cycles can be used unless its mandatory to travel by their personal vehicles, thereby doing our little part in saving Mother Earth.
Also, money is being spent lavishly on buying branded clothes, accessories, latest models of mobile phones and lap tops, when we can very well survive with the necessary commodities. Because, there are millions of people around, lacking even the basic needs such as food and shelter.
I don't want you to be parsimonious, rather, frugal.

Think before you spend, and don't do anything just because you could!
